I tore my meniscus in my right knee some time ago. And had surgery on it Friday.
Anyone else have it done? Good/Bad or otherwise?
On short term disability from work for 3 months.

I have had it done twice then ended up having a total knee replacement. I wish they would have just done the replacement first. I am sure the techniques have advanced, I wish you the best.

I had a half inch tear in my left meniscus. I had surgery on Friday walked out of the hospital the same morning and was back at work Monday. The dr. Did recommend a week off.

On short term disability from work for 3 months. Just had same surgery. They trimmed the meniscus and drained some cysts. It went well and in a couple days I started working short hour in days. I am the owner first couple days I used a scooter or crutches for assist. After that with a little limp for a few full hour days then made my knee start doing it. Working on the floor all day few weeks later. My surgery went well and I am healthy and slim. Good luck! If you have that kinda time off take it and take your time.

Pretty much the same in my case. Doctor did say we are just buying time for whole knee replacement. I have had a number of leg injuries in my younger days.

Both left & right meniscus' are ragged from age-related wear and tear. Had left knee "cleaned up" and oil changed about 18 months ago. Did absolutely no good. Waste of money. But, in all fairness to my doc, he told me there was about 20% of folks that the endoscopic surgery helped. I was in that other 80%.
Doc told me to hold off on total knee replacement until I couldn't bear the pain. I'm not bone on bone......yet. I'm 61 years old. Every day and every step is painful. Some days are worse that others.

Thanks everyone, I'm walking on it. I have a cold pack pump , 1 hour on 1 hour off. And pain killers of course.
Surgeon said meniscus was just shredded, so he cleaned it all out , along with the arthritis.
Hoping to get 7 years out of it before I do a total knee replacement.

I had meniscus surgery on my right knee in 2019. I was able to baby it and take it easy for as long as I wanted. I was walking completely normal within 2 weeks. One year till I was fully healed and could bend my knee without any pinching.
Only problem is now it’s sensitive to cold.

Chad I hope you get to feeling better soon and sadly for now you'll need to put your next attempt at setting a new world record for speed rope jumping on aback burner !

I currently have a torn meniscus in my right knee. According to our local orthopedic clinic they can repair the tear, but I have arthritis in the knee joint. They said if they repair the tear, it will aggravate the arthritis and I will need a complete knee replacement within a couple of months. I had gotten a couple cortisone shots which helped the pain for a month or so which I had to pay part of each time.
So, I went to the VA where I was told the cortisone will eventually erode the cartilage. Instead they tried injections of Euflexxa which is a lubricant instead of cortisone. It was like a miracle. I wear a compression sleeve on my knee. The shot lasts 6 months. It's been 7 months since I had the first series of shots and still no pain. I plan to go in for another series of shots anyway next month.

The gel works...as long as you're not bone on bone....gotta have SOME room for the gel to take....
Unfortunately, most of us wait way too long and a replacement is the only option....I get cortisone in my shoulders, it sorta works a little, but theres no cartilage left to erode....and shoulder replacements are no walk in the park...so.... There's a guy I know who has both knees replaced, one hip, and one shoulder replaced. He said knees and hip were almost fun compared to the shoulder replacement. He said it's the therapy that's really tough.
