There is no minimum age for mentored hunters here in Pa. You can get a newborn a mentored license for $2.97….that come with a buck tag, a fall turkey tag, and a spring turkey tag, along with small game.

No hunter safety class needed.

Mentored hunts here can only have one weapon and kid needs to be in arms reach. Hunters safety really isn't needed for mentored hunts. Once kids get older, they will need hunters safety to go off on their own.

you can have 2 guns now
but you have to be within arms reach

the original law was 1
but it was quietly changed in 2016.
as many things are and never listed in the hunting regs.
The Wis-DNR should have not prohibited people from carrying a side arm while mentoring a youth hunt. common sense says if you are out there calling in turkeys or setting up for a duck hunt and you get a wolf the adult should be able to have a side arm. because common sense could not be applied by the DNR , laws were changed by the legislature.
if you read it , it no longer says only 1 gun
it still says arms reach

in this case I do not think the 3 year old carried the 12ga into the field.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

That one weapon rule was eliminated a while back. Now the mentor cam have their own weapon and hunt along with the youth if they have a license and the season is open for an adult. The adult could even have a weapon along for small game or coyote.
