Good time's good eats too, starting back in late Feb a crew of us started going up to Canada 68 miles from home crappie fishing.Ended up with 12 trips all but two times we came home with our limits, gave a lot to some of the older friends who can't get out anymore, and brothers and more friends. We've ate a lot of crappies since late Feb till now,our last outing was Last Sun the 19th ice was just starting to show some honeycombing, still 38" to 40" of ice....

Thank you, Paul Harvey! (Seldom) laugh I hope your Calicos are biting over there across the pond!

So much fun, John!

Wow, thanks Trappingthomas! I'll try to do that.

Thank you, Kristen!

That sounds fantastic, Rick. The folks who own our walleye camp in Canada have a winter home on a smaller crappie lake up there. They talk about dinner plate sized crappies. I dream of them... Nice of you to share with some friends! That makes the whole thing better! grin

Looks like lots of fun !

Good photos . Happy smiles.

These little guys remind me of what the locals in FLA call Bream . I used to catch them a lot growing up. Prepared them myself along with nice sides of hush puppies . A perfect southern meal. I'm sure your supper was perfect !

I didn't know this backstory.

Growing up it's just what my dad and family called them.

Always learning!

I dont know, Patrice , they might be ! All I knew them was by the local name. They sure were good.

I would take my nightcrawlers and my cane pole with red/white bobber , sit with the black folks along the canal edges , who all had the same cane pole setups. We would catch those little fish by the buckets. I made many friends sitting along those grassy banks .

I would only keep the biggest ones and carefully put back the small ones.

That simple kind of fishing was as much fun, if not more fun, than catching the big fish in the Atlantic with my Dad in his fishing boat.
