Here is meal #1 from our crappies.

[Linked Image]

Deep fried crappies with our homemade tartar sauce (mayo, minced pickles, lemon juice and garden dill), pan fried garden baby red potatoes Zim grew and canned last year (sprinkled with our first chives of this year), and slices of tomato broiled with parmesan cheese, chives and a drizzle of olive oil.

That was nice! We're doing almost the same again tonight. laugh

That is quite the gourmet meal. Would cost $30 a plate in the restaurant.

Excellent presentation Patrice…I’m working on a simple grilled venison round and potato here, nothing fancy…

Looks really good, hard to beat crappies for flavor. The other post with the Morels looks good also, depending on the weather we are about 14 days out for our morels 18 days for sure. Most years we pick 300 to 800 on my home place, best year was over 1,200.99% blacks greys....

Thanks, Beaverpeeler. It will be free to you if you stop by!

Thank you, Les! No one can beat your edge-of-the-table presentations! Your supper sounds wonderful.

Thanks, Niteprowler! - And you're welcome!

Nice job, Hern! OOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!! Morels!!!!!!!!!!! That is fantastic. Thanks for the photos!!!

Thanks, Gary! We'll both be napping soon.

Thanks, Rick. We will look for morels but we don't usually find too many. Amazing numbers!!!!!!

Thank you, Lugnut!

Thank you, Mississippiposse! Good luck when you finally make your move!

Savell, we like all kinds of coatings, sauces and preparations, but I thought I'd hear about the plates!

Thanks, Turtledale! I actually chose the tomatoes to get another color on the plate. They will really be good when our own tomatoes are here!

Making me hungry! You two know how to enjoy living! Bachelor tonight as the women of the house went out to eat and to the ballet. Hard to justify cooking for one. Sipping my dinner. lol Big breakfast for the ladies and a couple of their friends in the a.m..

Your fish almost look like they're beer battered.
I like a thin batter , you can taste the fish better.
I love canned new potatoes, they taste the same as fresh out of the ground.
You too are awesome with your knowledge of things.

Thanks, Trapperbruce! No, I didn't whip up the batter myself this time. We have a simple go to from the store. It was Andy's Golden Fish Batter mix. No egg or milk, etc. Just mix with some water and sprinkle the fillets with a bit of the dry mix before dipping them. You can make it as thin or as thick as you like. It really tuns out well for very little effort.

Thanks, Thomas! Well I hope you enjoy you evening. You could do a frozen pizza or just some ice cream! laugh

Thank you so very much, Ohio Wolverine! We do mix it up in terms of how we make fish and whether it has any kind of breading or batter. I'll do something totally different next time!
