Who knows where I can find another pair of these Made in USA 3/16" cable cutters.

I checked the trapping supply places first and a general search after that. They are out of stock everywhere.

If your using snares, those are one of the handiest tools you can put in your pocket.

In PA we have to use relaxing locks on our CR's/snares. Even so they can be a pain to get off a caught critter so sometimes I have to cut them off.

For years I carried the pair I own in my fox-trapping bag. In the last several years I have started using snares for beaver and it's the same deal, sometimes they have to be cut off.

I'm getting too old too remember to switch the cable cutters from my trapping bag to my trap basket so I figured I better buy another pair.

I like this pair, they're compact, lightweight, durable and work great. If only I could find another pair to buy. LOL

I dont normally carry the cable cuttters on the line anymore.
I cut the snares off the animal when i get it home.
In the bush I just unwrap the tie wire.
If snaring beaver under ice I will carry the cutters as it is easier to change out a snare to the tiewire without unwrapping the tie wire since there are two snares to each tiewire and only need to change out one of the pair of snares normally to re set the pole.

If you need to release a non target, you had better have a pair of cable cutters

I have never seen the words "tie wire" and "snares" used in the same sentence. How do you unwrap tie wire and remove a snare from, I'm guessing, an anchor-point? Seems pretty sketchy to me if that is on the end of a snare, (unless it is set for really small critters?).

Years ago I bought a pair of Felco C7 cutters and they are awesome. Then I lost it and had a tough time paying another $80 for a new pair. Finally bought the new one, and I just found the lost pair in a box in my rec room. Lol

Nope use tie wire on wolf snares also (No 9) Double 14 for lynx and fox and under ice beaver.
Have snared thousands of animals,Been snaring since 1965 (rabbits)and fur since 1971.(first trapping licence)
Tie wire is also the support.I tried cabling off for wolf for a while but went back to the number 9 wire support and tie off.
All lethal snares.
Need to pick proper locations for set up for land fur.

A lot of guys use 9 wire to tie off wolf snares, and I know a number of guys use doubled 14 (tie wire) for cat snares. Personally I prefer cable extensions to tie off, but I wouldn't be a bit afraid to tie off with 9 wire. I assume by "tie wire" Boco is just referring to using wire to tie off his snares, not to the specific size.

Keep it simple=efficiency.
Tie wire that doubles as a support wire=efficient.
KISS.
A lot of stuff pushed today is for the sellers advantage, not the trapper.
Now I am not saying cable cutters are not handy to have on the line for cutting wire or cable,
I use the felco c9 at home for making snares or cutting snares off wolves.
We used the cheaper Hite cable cutters on the railroad for trimming the cables on liners and tampers.
