My guess is that is incorrect or at least no way to deliver them. Only reasons to have them is either to use them as a deterrent or to use them. They haven't played either card and considering what we have done to them they would have done one or the other if they had them.

Time will tell but I dont see anything that would cause me to believe Isreal will take control of that whole region. I dont think they could or would want to. I believe Isreal has had more rockets fired at it than any other nation in the last 20 years and most of their neighbors want them wiped off of the map including Iran which has been pursuing nuclear weapons for the last 15 years despite the whole world trying to talk them out of, with a decent chance of trying to hit Isreal with them if they got them. Not saying every motive we have for attacking Iran is good but in every war there has always been someone who have profited from it or the results of it and will be the case again. But Iran with nuclear weapons is a very bad thing. In the very least it would mean they would control that region completely and that is bad for everyone with the exception of our enemies.

Our refineries are built for refining heavy crude... not light crude. The crude we drill is light crude.

I also wonder why, if building refineries for light crude is a profitable venture, why have XOM or CVX or someone not done it yet? Would it need to be subsidized by the government to be profitable? I really don't know... never read much into it........

Our financial system depends on the petro dollar. If we weren't trillions in debt and weren't importing more dollars of product than we were exporting we might not need to be as concerned about the middle east.... but if our enemies had complete control of the middle east we probably still would get hurt by it in the long run despite being energy dependent.

I don't see a way for that to be possible short of massive government overreach... I.e. socialism or communism. Even if we had the ability to refine light crude here.... what would prevent oil companies from selling their product on the global markets if the profits were higher, short of the government forbidding it.....or taking over production.
