warrior OP trapper Joined: Jan 2007 Georgia	If my prelimnary research is correct Trump's three major assassination attempts set a record. I believe Gerald Ford held the previous record at two. Another record, the Hilton Hotel where this most recent attempt occurred is also known as the Hinkley Hilton for the shooting of Reagan by John Hinkley. First location to have two seperate attempts on two seperate presidents.

KeithC trapper K Joined: May 2009 Champaign County, Ohio.	I suspect a great many more assassination attempts on US presidents have been aborted by potential assassins, who weren't suicidal or stupid enough to go on with the plan, when they saw what they were up against. Keith

Keith True, that's why my research only found the ones where shots were fired or attempted in close proximity. The first was in 1835 when an assassin tried to shoot Andrew Jackson. The pistol misfired and Jackson beat him into submission with his cane.
