I've seen a fair number of these game pole pictures and often wondered how much of that meat gets processed and how. How much gets spoiled then tossed. There's at least a ton of meat hanging there.

I'd be willing to bet a lot more of it got utilized back then than does now.

Same as now. Figure out some way to get it home. I think it was common for big groups of guys to take a train to where they hunt and then send the game back on the train. Remember at one time there was market hunting and the train took it to the grocery store.

Frank Glaser made .25 cents a lbs. early to mid 1900's.
