Johnny cash and Hank Williams sr. Were the two most influential musicians to me that inspired me to start learning to play guitar and write.
Lots of tribute bands out there to cash… some decent and some, well not so much.
I stumbled across this band last night I was totally wowed!
They have the boom chica boom sound down pat… and I mean it’s got the Luther Perkins little signature quips.
Although the guy doesn’t have the cash voice ,,,, he’s still a great singer.
And to top it off,, this band is somewere from one of the Icelandic countries.
Can’t speak a word of English… but they can certainly sing it.. pretty odd and impressive at the same time.
It’s a concert and you’ll have to fast forward it about 3-4 minutes or so.. but if you’re a die hard ,,, it’s worth it.
And you will see what I mean.

Had a bunch of songs that were never recorded because
"P incorrect".
Napster ate that hard drive but I did burn them.
Some great stuff at a time I really needed it.

Never understood the greatness label given to Hank Williams. Wasn’t alive long enough to do much. Yeah he had some hits. Cash on the other hand I love his music. My grandmother gave me the ring of fire album 20 years ago. Still have it in original cover. Wonder if it’s worth much

Hank Williams was a lyrical genius,, known as the hillbilly Shakespeare.
He had a simple, yet powerful way of writing that connected.
In his very short time he had 11 number one hits.
In my opinion,,, there are 4 artists who have influenced more musicians than any other.. Hank sr, Johnny cash, the Beatles and Elvis.

Ironically, the last song Hank ever recorded was “ I’ll Never get out of this world alive “.

My father met Johnny cash standing next to him at a rest stop urinal, the old man had no idea who he was....figured it out when the tour bus passed them, lol

He did say Johnny was very polite and said hello while taking care of business...... grin

I grew up a fan of hard rock ie. Jethro Toll, Hendrix, Deep Purple and so on. For about thirty years I did not listen to music. Then in my later in life I became a fan of Buddy Holley and 50's rock. I also started listening to Johnny Cash and realized he fit into the category of all time greats.

You’re “quote” is quite a bit light. “The title weighed 60 lbs”. Always liked his music. Our birthplaces are about 25 miles apart.
