How many pounds do you guys thing I could get off 1 average 45-50 pound beaver. Fat and all, no trimming.

I guess I never really thought about it…I’d guess roughly 15 pounds of meat. That’s including all the meat and not just the back hams and back straps.

Majority of mine gets ground into hamburger meat

I save the beavers I catch for eating. I keep the back legs, front legs, and back straps. I just weighed a pack that contained those parts from a 40 pounder and it came out to a little over 5 pounds. That includes the bones of course.

Eh...wot?

5 pounds is about right.

Saving all 4 legs and the back straps usually fills a gallon freeze bag. On a bigger beaver sometimes I might have to bag the rear quarters separately 4-6# pre trimmed is about right. I dont get picky on getting rid of the fat. Just get the big stuff on the outside.

Beavers to me are almost all stomach. There is some good looking meat on them but not much for their size. I guess it takes a lot of stomach to digest tree bark.
