Beats me what will happen, I think it'll go to a referendum vote, it should anyways, petitions on both sides of the topic have been signed exceeding the minimum number of signatures so it seems fair to put it to a vote. I don't know what demands they will bow down to, maybe SP will chime in on that as he is involved.
I know one of the real big beefs they have is what we call equalization, or the distribution of income tax to the Feds to distribute to poorer provinces. You guys have the same thing there basically it just goes by a different name, Federal Grants-in Aid. There are lots of states that contribute more through federal income tax than they get back through Federal aid, and on the flip side you have lots of states that always get more in Federal aid than they contribute. I know there are other issues but that is the one that has been screamed about the loudest for years. Here provinces that always get more are called "have not" provinces, reading has taught me south of the border they're called "taker" states. I'm not saying I am this massive fan of the formula on how it works but I do see the irony in the Liberal feds being the Boogeyman on it when the last time the formula was changed to its current status was in 2009 under Conservative leadership.

But the question I have is does that factor in the massive amount of refugees that your country has brought in over the past 17+ years? I am guessing, but if like here, they gobble up lots of federal aid by hook or by crook…..

PEI has the lowest number of immigrants. I am not really 100% sure what you are asking but if this is what you are asking then I'd say not.

rv,
I thought another sticking point was not being allowed to produce more fossil fuel income for Alberta? Up for never ending debate. There are loads of arguments on both sides, there is no point getting into them as that would take pages. Alberta has never produced more oil than they do today though, production has grown by over 40% since the Liberals took over. I'm not trying to say that they are responsible for the growth, I'm just saying there is a political spin behind every movement. I'm not a team politics guy so I can see the good with the bad and separate the wheat from the chaff when I desire to regarding some rhetoric or narrative. Keith, get off your youtube algorithm. lol I recently saw this video carrying on about how Trump signed some pipeline order and how he was doing more for the Canada than the Liberals on pipelines. The truth to the matter is that Carney took that to Trump way back in October. All of the t's are crossed and I's dotted and it is fully permitted on the Canadian side and has been for awhile, the only thing holding that back is the US side of things. It was one of those typical Liberal tyrant videos you watch from Canadian propagandists (because of team politics), but anyone with an ounce of critical thinking can see through them.

The oil Producers here aren't all that exited about bring crude from Canada down here through a pipeline and mix the higher quality crude with a heavier crude from the north. There is a lot of debating on that subject. Pipelines are needed but mixing and degrading will cost producers here dollars. I have a few high up end oil friends and that is one thing that is an issue. Trump backed of on pushing that through and that was one reason why.
