I don't think I'd have the heart to kill the pups. That's the rationale for the states that have a season, since late winter-early spring is pup season.
I would probably feel differently if I owned a farm and they were going after my livestock. But some coyotes are better-behaved than others; if you take out the well-behaved ones, then it creates a void where new coyotes will move into the territory and they might not be so well-behaved. It bothers me that you can kill a coyote at any time; regardless of if it has pups. I don’t mind that someone has killed a possibly pregnant coyote; like the operator has here. But no young one deserves to starve to death because their parent was killed. However, I do realize that can happen no matter what. No offense to the OP

The way I look at it is six dead for one shot and I’d do it tomorrow in a heartbeat. People’s tune changes if it’s your livestock or pets these rascals are killing Lot easier to get six that way than one at a time

Don't you guys have a mule deer issue of some kind going on right now? Those Nebraska regs are a real head scratcher sometimes it seems like compared to Ohio laws. I might need a lesson. Do we really ever actually see fawn damage? I've never found one but I guess people do? I run about 30 plus trail cameras in my area.. Every year get several to quite a few pictures of coyotes in front of the camera with a fawn in it's mouth. I think the coyotes get a bunch of fawns ....

The study's show that coyotes births relate to population. When its low or there is a void in population their litter sizes increase in that area. They track their own population with all those howls. It effects litter size. I've often wondered if the guys that trap coyotes out of their deer area isn't actually bringing more mouths to feed into that area. I think you are saying the same thing only said it in terms of behaved or unbehaved coyotes... I guess I'm saying they'll be coming in but plus they will also be having large litters too. To say it another way... I wonder if I were to trap my coyotes out around my house the way people do if it doesn't seem like there's a chance I'd be seeing more coyotes then. Maybe that's partially why the population has exploded? (and environmental factors, city coytoes.) I'm not sure but it seems interesting anyway. I don't think I'd have the heart to kill the pups. That's the rationale for the states that have a season, since late winter-early spring is pup season.

I mean I don't doubt it I'm just saying I've never found a fawn head. I've never seen a fawn skull in a yote turd. Plenty of mouse skulls and hair. I'm just wondering if you any of you have? Obviously I have seen trail cam video of fawns in mouths I guess. I just wondered how common it really was. Here in Ohio a coyote doesn't really fool with a road kill deer in summer or fall even. They aren't hungry. They don't seem to even hit it hard until its cold and some snow and ice and then you can bet on some bait pile activity. I just wonder how hungry they really are in the spring then I guess. Here they seem well fed on field mice or whatever but were open farm country here mostly, maybe we got more mice. Now 2' of snow with drifts and blowing. I totally see yotes eating young deer. I just wonder if dens are really full of skulls the way everyone acts, seems like their would be plenty of pictures. I don't know. Probably over thinking it. Do we really ever actually see fawn damage? I've never found one but I guess people do? I have, and coyotes kill healthy adult deer as well in Maine.Even the Wildlife people admit to it now.

Our red fox went down but came back pretty good but all the thickets are going away. I have hated these things since they decimated our fox population in the early 80’s and I envy the guys who still have a ton of fox to trap
