I was going to say you see alot at culverts in road ditches these days. We used to jump them in the woods like rabbits. They would try to circle around on you and if you started to smell skunk you better get ready b/c it was close. The old timers said they would start in on a fox track and follow it in the snow and after a ways when it started circling back to get your gun up b/c it was going by you to get in behind. I always liked that story.

Thats what I was thinking too. Interesting.

We dont have many rabbits or rats - so not much food for coyotes.

My take on coyote populations is they constantly expand territory and have a ton of pups . They are extremely adaptable and have no threat except man and an occasional disease but other than mange I’ve never seen a sick one kinda like a canine opossum lol

This. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^. So true. Seeing a fox around here is almost neighborhood news.

I never thought coyotes a major threat to our deer in NY once fawning was over, but last fall got a series of trail cam photos that proved otherwise. This eastern coyote took an out an October deer, which would be a minimum of 80-90lbs live weight. Probably more. Still wouldn’t be able to kill a spring coyote that had pups back in a den somewhere, though. I’ll wait until fall.

Last pic is hard to tell with the quality, but the coyote is actually carrying at least the back half of the deer. Can see both hind legs and the belly... crazy

When the start eating your livestock and pets you might reconsider

Have had them eat goats and chickens

Just like pigs, I don't make any exceptions for ages or take any consideration of what might be happening. I kill them all

Ashley I generally follow your thinking except for feral hogs and coyotes

Yeah have a yote peel your dogs hide down over its rump and dangle there like a long john flap and you go half liver eating johnson on the dang things. Our group of guys killed 100 one winter and that was in less than a 1/3 of the county. There is no population struggle, they can lose some pups.
