We have an upright Pepsi cooler with the glass sliding doors. I’m going to take it to our place in Canada, 800 miles. I’ve heard you can lay them on their side for transport as long as oil lines are facing up and you let it stand upright for several hours before plugging it in. Does anyone have experience with this?

The old man was a refrigerator guy, said to NEVER transport laying down, except for brief trips, then let it set upright for awhile...the oil is in the compressor, so maybe one way is better than the other, but i think it's a risk for a long trip.

Let it stand up for a day and the oil will run back into the sump on the compressor

That’s what I have heard as well. But also seems to be as many on the other side saying just let it stand for a day b4 plugging in. It’s exactly an inch and a half too tall to stand up in my stock trailer.

I've hauled them standing up in a PU Truck many times, just need plenty of strapage.

I’ll be driving an Excursion and pulling stock trailer. Cooler is a ticky too tall for the trailer unless I put it on its side.

Maybe lean it against the trailer wall so it's mostly upright...?? and will fit....

Kinda like the old joke about a trucker getting stuck under a bridge in front of an insane asylum , trucker can't seem to get it unstuck, a patient is there watching the scene and tells the trucker "I know how to get it out". Trucker says "what do you know you're insane!"

patient says "let some air out of your tires"..."I may be insane but I'm not stupid"!!.... grin

Have it shipped is also an option.

Can you tilt it just enough to get it into the stock trailer and then stand it up in there? Maybe you have to take the wheels off too.

Or buy a new trailer it will fit in.

Can you pull two trailers at once? Maybe rent/borrow another trailer?

I’ve got an open car trailer also. Just have the other appliances in the stock trailer and wanted to take them all up in same trailer/trip. I’ll probably haul it upright on car trailer unless I find a definite answer on the laying down debate.
Thanks all!
