"A Mother of a Revolution" is a 2019 wind ensemble composition by Omar Thomas celebrating the bravery of trans women, particularly Marsha P. Johnson, and commemorating the Stonewall uprising."

Anyone that thinks music celebrating a violent riot with hundreds of fires, massive vandalism and police officers being stoned with bricks is appropriate in a school is no conservative.

This is typically now performed with it.

if they were voted in, they ARE the best judgement of the community at the moment.

Everybody loves "democracy", until it goes against THEIR wishes.

Absolutely! There are many adults today (a generation beneath me for sure) that do NOT have any idea what Communism is! Born too late to see it and born late enough that they were not taught what Communism is or isn’t but will throw the term out there just to show negativity. You can find that train of thought today on about any college campus 2 generations below me!

So many of the adult in the generation below me and their kids I know, I wish they could have gone to school in the 50s & 60s, our Country would be in a better place then we are today INMHO!

Context is everything. If this musical piece is celebrating anything to do with the George Floyd riots, I can't support it in any way. George Floyd's death is not something to be commemorated in any way. He was a criminal who died while breaking the law. I have tons of friends in Europe and I can tell you the perception of America was irreparably damaged by the George Floyd riots. Allowing those riots to continue as long as we did was the biggest mistake America has made in recent history.

"The music teacher at the highschool selected a wind ensemble to be played this spring that was written by a gay or trans composer."

Read this and wondered, How many wind ensembles aren't written by gay composers? And most of the music teachers I recall seemed a bit light in the loafers as well. But whatever.

The part I really don't understand is how the actions (or overreactions) of this school board make them some sort of MAGA freaks. Is there some sort of MAGA initiative against gay music composers that I'm not aware of?

The musical piece was written in celebration of violent riots by gay people. Music praising violent gay riots doesn't belong in American schools.

Marsha P. Johnson, who the music celebrates was a male prostitute. Gay, or any prostitution, is not appropriate for a school to promote.

There's a big difference between banning the music of a composer because they are gay and banning music because it celebrates a violent riot and male prostitution.

l talked to one of my best friends who left the OBX 30 years ago and liquidated everything and moved to Montana. Everything he greets me with the same line.
“lm watching the USA self destruct from a good place”
l tease him and tell him its a good place till one of the nuke silos about a mile from his house torches off then his house will burn down from the brush fire.

He simply can not believe what radicals are doing and he lives in a place where if a neighbor has a problem everyone comes to help in any way possible no matter what.
We need to get back to that.

And maybe ship some members of congress and the senate somewhere on a one way / no return ticket.
