"communist MAGA group" tells me all I need to see where OP is coming from
Yep...when I got to this part of the Op's post....I stopped reading and filed it where I put all the rest of that nonsense.

What I am finding most humorous about this is that the OP must never watching any meetings of congress on CSPAN. What he is describing sounds pretty tame compared to what goes on in the halls of congress these days.

So let me get this right... band kids were practicing for a year and have been planning a band concert at the school playing instruments with no lyrics and there is a huge outcry b/c a gay person composed the piece? Did I miss something? Its not pushing any agenda right? How is this indoctornating children? Do you have any idea how many TV shows, movies, books, and the such were written by someone gay? I don't think the kids are going to think anything about anything. They are learning music and playing an instrument for the parents and grandparents to hear. I don't think they'll be marching out of the school in a gay pride parade or anything. The performance: https://youtu.be/R6ieR-YZ4eY?si=0aRxdRpNP_tPdF7r

another point that bothers me...if they were just performing a "wind ensemble" musical piece, how is it even relevant (enough so that they had to send out parental notifications 7 months ago) who wrote the piece? there has to be more to the story...thinking there WAS going to be some indoctrination planned.
Of course, the old indoctrination card gets played. LOL It's wild how that card gets played so often but not actually towards the greatest institutions of indoctrination out there. Anyways, the reason is simple. You send end the note out to prevent the old "we didn't know anything about this" card from being played. Where I work 10 notes a week go out informing parents of things coming down the pipe. Why? Well, you learn to when you have to deal with complaining about not informing about everything under the sun. I'll bet they learned their lesson from something they previously deemed not relevant enough to worry about.

Obviously I am being sarcastic towards the softies that cry indoctrination all of the time.

The song is in honor of a gay prostitute, who is the "mother" in Mother of a Revolution and a violent riot, which is the "revolution" in the title. Anyone who thinks songs about those topics are appropriate songs for children is not a conservative and supports grooming children for homosexuality.

Keith so, why the need for parental notification? I'm fairly certain the music teacher must have had the intention to explain the significance of the composition...in order to trigger the parental notification.

If it was me I would have sent a note home to CYA in case someone happen to over react at a school board meeting or something. Not like that would ever happen. If the teacher is a nut doing what you are saying then I guess I agree but I don't see why we should assume they are doing that. Did it say something to that effect?
You guys have never rocked out to a song and realized it was Queen? Does that really ruin someones day? Thats all Im saying. I'm saying that if the real intent was just to perform a difficult composition, there would have been no reason to make an issue of, or even mention the backstory; no reason to trigger the parental notification requirement; no reason to bring up anything of the sort.

You guys have never rocked out to a song and realized it was Queen? Does that really ruin someones day? Thats all Im saying. There's a huge, beyond incredibly obvious difference, to most people, in listening to or performing a song by a gay composer, than in making children perform a song in honor of a gay male prostitute, who is being portrayed as a mother of a violent riot, where law enforcement officers had deadly force (bricks, rocks, bottles and more) used to injure them and buildings occupied by people were set on fire, jeopardizing their lives. How can you or anyone else not grasp this? Keith
