Thanks, most of the material is in sheets and old tubing. Company has an old mine that was once a mill shop and alot of junk in it. We are cleaning it out this week.

You can sell sheets of brass and possibly the tubing, for many times more than scrap to the crafts market.

The majority of people don't know how to sort it properly, expecialy since material specs have changed over the years...

Sell the obvious scrap as scrap, but the tubing/sheets/bars/blocks etc. is worth a LOT more as material if you can store it and take the time to sell it that way. Try contacting an industrial materials supply house, it will have increased value due to being already shipped to Alaska.

C&R Pipe in Fairbanks buy it. Last time I dropped a load off last fall was $1.45 a pound.
Their website used to have posted the going rates of scrap. But the page doesn’t work anymore.

If you can get a scanning tool for readings of the content; ie how much copper there is the there is a break-down of % of price for brass over/under copper prices.
Red should be +75% copper prices yellow 65%
Sort as everyone else has said to do.

But if it is like some are; and one that puts marten on muskrat boards....you get what you prepare the material as.

Brass is definitely worth saving to sell.

Copper is worth more. But, here in crazy MN, you need to buy a license that costs $250 a year to sell copper. I used to buy a lot of scrap copper at garage sales and auctions. I have about 200 pounds of scrap copper I've accumulated over several years, but if I have to pay $250 to sell it, that's too big of a loss. Now, I focus more on brass and aluminum, although aluminum takes up a lot of space if you don't sell it right away.

Wife told me to put on clean socks every day. I tried, but after 7 days, I could hardly get my shoes on.
