it is very hereditary and there are very different types of it.

when in hyper focus , it would nearly take a bomb going off next to you to snap out of it
and also on the flip side.
you are in a restaurant and you can't not hear every conversation 5 tables away and be answering the questions being asked at 3 of them at the same time.
but also
the news is on the radio and your wife is trying to talk to you in the car and you didn't hear what she said because she didn't remember if she needs to be heard she needs to turn off the radio.

Was no such label when I grew up in Bracebridge in the 60s,we just called kids that acted nuts nuts.
Now you cant call a nut nuts anymore its not politically correct,now they got a hundred different versions of nuts and probably govt funded programs for each one.

In our firearms training classes, we had a girl who suffers from this disorder apparently.

We use laser guns the kind that put a red dot on a target on the wall. This is to help them with sight alignment for live fire on range day. This girl's aim was well off the bullseye. She was right handed. I noticed she kept both eyes open every time she pulled the trigger on the laser gun. I told her she needed to close one eye. She said she couldn't do that. She handed me the gun and said it was scary.

Last night on the written test she had 17 wrong answers out of 50 multiple choice questions which is a failing grade. They must pass the written test to qualify for range day with live ammo. She failed the entire class which was unfortunate, but a good thing.

I can't close my lright eye. Shoot pistol left. Rifle right.

in the 60s it was just the kids that weren't good at "school" my grandpa and 5 uncles would have all been diagnosed if anyone was paying attention. my youngest aunt has been diagnosed as an adult.
5 of 6 high school drop outs , none of them dumb , just no patients for school stuff until they hit auto shop
is grandpa a high school drop out if he never started , he started farming full time after graduating 8th grade.

or we could say a significant portion of the kids who were barley passing all their other classes and had an A going in every shop class.

chances are a lot of the guys who opened little independed small engine shops are.

in most cases you can just find a job that you excel at and do it.

it is when they want you to fit into desk jobs or school or telling people they need to go to college that there is an issue.

in girls it often looks like different. they may take to school subjects very well.
I would venture my mother probably is , my youngest aunt is diagnosed.
my aunt was an Army Nurse and is now a nurse anesthetist. in girls it often looks more like anxiety to not perform so they try to the point of burn out. they do school fine so then they do more and often end up in professional careers.

that doesn't sound like ADHD at all that sounds like that is more of a cross dominance in the eyes or weak dominance in the eye , possibly some other thing like dyslexia on the reading portion or she just didn't want to be there.

a true ADHD person or ADD if we use the older term is very likely to take to a training they want to be at so well they are your best student. they naturally excel at nearly anything they are putting their mind to specifically hands on. they will typically put in twice the effort of the as they call them neurotypical.

I will have to disagree with you and believe its a hindrance to close an eye to shoot. It limits what I can see and I have no problem seeing open sights or optics with both eyes open. I guess maybe in some cases people's dominant eye may not be as dominant and need to close an eye to focus but since I never have and typically always was in the top if not the top of friendly shooting competitions it absolutely never made since to me whan I see people shoot closing an eye. Unless it was trying to correct a cross dominant shooter.

Sounds more like to me no one checked to see what eye was hee dominant eye and if they did they got.it wrong. The coach on my sons old archer team convinced my wife my son needed to shoot left handed he got it wrong. But I was always at work and didnt hear about it tell after left handed bow was ordered. Then he had been shooting a bow left handed a while and it was a challenge to correct.

Its pretty clear who has no clue but thinks they do vs those that have experienced adhd.

it might take a brick of 22lr to train your other hand well but shoot to the eye.

especially if you haven't shot before , 100% shoot to the eye , why learn it wrong and handicap yourself for life.

my dad is left eye dominant , right handed , been a squinter since he was 14 and started hunting
much harder to hit running targets and you give up clarity at distance with one eye shut , and it is less safe because you have no peripheral to see someone or thing walking into your field of fire.
