The last time the 10 year yield was this high was 2/12/2025. What followed was a sharp but short-lived dip of the DOW, followed by 10 months of strong, steady growth.
But, I don't think that is what you were going for, lol.

Or we are headed for another 2022.

I hope so. Im ready to buy more than my weekly purchases. About 18% is in cash in in money market accounts at 3.4% and ready to deploy during a pull back. And id a dipnlast a while my dollar cost averaging during that time will also only accelerate my gains during the recovery.

Jbird likes low zero risk and prefers low but steady and safe returns from cd and bonds. Seems to like to try to knock the volatility of the markest. His way of investing is great for him. Myself I prefer a mix an higher returns. I dont mind volatility and I really like when markers are down more than when they are up. Why becuse im earning the most in my life and have more to invest and love buying things on sale. Yes it sucks to see accounts tens of thousands in the red almost over night compared to the other way in the green. But I get excited when its in the red smile an buy buy buy on the way down. It helps to think in decads and see dips as short term buying opportunities.

I’m not very smart with the stocks thing,,is this post implying good news or bad?? Que Henny Penny...... the sky is falling! the sky is falling! One thing is certain...... the market will correct..... but when? jbyrd feels the high yields on the 10 year treasuries is indicative of that correction being imminent. I'm not so convinced....

But, I don't think that is what you were going for, lol. No the year was 2007 when it went as high as it got on friday... (4.70) Yes in 2007 it topped north of 5 % Soon afterwards people were jumping off buildings due to the financial collapse. Just pointing out things that are lining up for a big correction. That's what is wrong in todays world . People forget history or just don't care. PF cd and bonds not only thing I got going. Real estate has quadrupled Got 2 business that have skyrocketed. You guys want to point out returns in percentage. Year to date got a 1150 percent return on my ding ding account... That gold from 2019 looks good right now was well Man those Germans made a pretty coin.....

There will be corrections. But becuse i can look at history i see how the markets have built more wealth for common people than anything else in history. A dip is not the end of the workd it part of investing to plan for and can be a massive opportunity. The people jumping off building were leveraged and riding the market euphoria. They made bad choices trying to take short-cuts to building wealth. Once again thinking in decades not months or years. Business and real-estate are also great investments. And also usually involve more hands on work and ther is also risk. Only a small % of small business dont fail within 5 years and if you want to play housing risk history games look at 2008 and see the bottom fall out there. Risk vs reward and personal goals and age all play in to what form of investment work best for each individual. All investing has risk even cd's. Money tied up in cds risk the loss opportunity cost if their money was use somewhere else that made higher returns. As long as people are saving and investing in something vs deep in debt they are doing great in my book.

If you had only invested in small cap stocks for the past 60 years, you would not have any worries about money today. If you had invested in bonds over the same period, you would be retired with a slightly better than minimum wage income. If you have social security, you are happy and comfy. I'm not counting on SS and will continue to ride stocks. If I lose all my wealth in stocks, only lead and gunpowder will matter. I have plenty of that, too.

We need bond rates to hit 18.5% again like in 1980. I made a killing back then cause I a ton of cash invested in bonds and never had any debt, everyone with debt got crushed.

everbody thought stocks were gold in 1926 too I noticed that nobody tried to contradict this very very true statement. Wasn't around then, so not sure if it was EVERYBODY. Along the same lines, there been a number of folks screaming DOOM IS IMMINENT for the last few years. Imagine the gains they missed out on. But yeah, sooner or later, they'll be right. Then they can say, "I told you so." But at what cost? I have NO idea why things are flying high, seems counter intuitive. But enjoying the bump. Everyone has their own acceptable level of risk.and their own situation. One size does not fit all

I'm not a DOOM IS IMMINENT type. Just think since it happened once its a POSSIBILITY. Good thing IMO to keep in the back of your mind. Lots of folks had their world turned upside down when the stock market was near complete collapse.
