The "lower density" population thingy is something that both the courts and the anti's just cannot grasp! And therein lies the political problem.

Very true Pete.
Politics is stupid one side wants wolves totally protected and the other side wants them totally wiped out,Two gong shows at the same time,lol/No middle ground to be found-did someone say Politics?

USA trappers MIGHT be somewhere in the middle as what we have been asking for is a regulated FAIR quota for a wolf harvest in states that have them.
Gotta ask... respectively ...Boco and other Canadian and Alaskan trappers do you have a wolf harvest quota? How would you feel about having a quota on
wolves vastly under what is present in the state populations? The Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin guys for instance have lots of wolves and have no season.
You can imagine what their deer populations are....

No quota on wolves here, but there is a quota on beaver.
Trappers on RTLs know that in order to maintain substantial beaver quotas you have to manage the wolf population at minimum sustainable numbers. Also helps the moose and all other furbearers and game animals as well.
Overpopulation of wolves can ruin a trap;ine fairly quickly. It is getting harder to do with all the vacant traplines around nowadays.

Mike, yes our deer population in the U.P. has been affected by the wolves overpopulation, I'm sure moose are affected as well.

No quota in my part of Alaska. Not sure whether there is anywhere in the state.

I really do not think that trappers could adversely impact most wolf populations over time. Trapping them just is not that efficient IMO.
