If you've ever kept track, what's the most moles you've taken out of the same trap (or traps if using Trapline or NoMols) in the same tunnel? I just caught mole #9 out of the same trap yesterday. When I initially set this property, this trap set empty the first four checks before I caught one, and it hasn't stopped producing since.

17 is the most I have caught. I had set up an end run situation ( with one Trapline trap ) not far from one of our facilities.

The run originated from a deeper run as there was no real sign to back track it to its origin. We had a drive way road and hard packed gravel with woods surrounding this area.

The run was along a drain pipe used for over flow from a building when it rained. The pipe came out to the surface of the ground.

It was an easy fast check so I was able to check the trap a few times a day. Some days I caught 3 moles in one day. Not sure where all these moles came from but it was back in the year when I took 114 moles from other areas of our property.

We haven't had any moles now for several years.

We have hair tail moles here primarily, with a few Eastern moles and a couple Star nosed moles here and there.

Here in South Texas only the Eastern Mole is found. In the 18 years or so I’ve been trapping moles, I’ve only caught a handful of times another mole in that same tunnel during a trapping period of 4-5 days. Of course I do get follow up calls from customers when neighboring moles re-colonize former foraging tunnels especially along foundations, fences, driveways, sidewalks and flowerbed edging. Eastern moles are supposed to be somewhat solitary and territorial according to research literature. Guess that may not be the case when it comes to other mole species and subspecies. Another factor that may come into play might be our almost desert like climate suppressing mole populations. Just a SWAG on my part though.
