My guess is snake. Saw a box turtle laying eggs and she had dug out about a 6" deep hole she was droping eggs into i assum she was going to cover them. A friend used to deal in snapping turtles sending the hach to China. Snappers burry their egg and he would dig them. Sea turtles bury there eggs so im assuming all turtles bury their eggs.

My daughters snakes lay them but they kind of stick together. But they look like reptile eggs and sinc they are not burried in going with snake.

I am going with turtle eggs that got dug up and eaten. They are showing signs of staining on the eggs which would indicate to me that they had been buried at some point.

Good catch, also disturbed dirt on top of some of the vegetation. My original observation only took a surface level look. I believe I was wrong and its a turtle as you said.

Are the egg shells calcified(hard) and is the mottled pattern dirt or color? Most reptile eggs are not larger/smaller at ends like bird eggs.
