So you hunted the north side of the river? How many gallons of 9 dollar a gallon gas you burn? How much a pound is antler and how many pounds you get? The Andreafski is out, full open?

That was a profitable trip, even after fuel cost, my third most profitable trip. Can't say how much per pound or where, insider secrets. It's nice to have a few honey holes left. Lots of guys looking for sheds nowadays. The antler buyers give guys who go hard at it extra per pound for extra effort expended, but don't care for prices to be aired out. We found 9 total.

What is the main use for them? How are they utilized?

C grades: older than two winters. B grades: two winters old. A grades from this winter. C grades, B grades, most A grades go for dog chews. Unusually large antlers that score well, especially sets, go for more to collectors. A grades maller than 6 pounds are craft grade. Sets get a little more a pound. Gnarly nontypicals also command more per pound. A small percentage go for the collector, craft, painting markets. The bulk go to the dog chew market.

My brother in law makes belt buckles, bolo ties, carved eagles, etcetera, out of them. My wife paints them.

My wife is about to paint these two. Self standers that do not require some sort of base or prop to stand with the paddle in a veiwable postion, like the beaver chew log, get a little more a pound.

Some buyers of her paintings like the beaver chews my wife uses for a prop better than having a self stander.

This is one of the bigger ones my wife painted, a 25 pounder self slander, I used it to illustrate a message the Lord gave me on fighting above your weight class. We gave it to a church in Texas after preaching in about 60 churches in 26 states. Raised a lot of awareness of the need for pastors in bush villages, had many young me surrender to come to bush villages to minister. God is good.

Some customers want the vein channels sanded flat before she paints, but if left to her druthers, she leaves them and incorporates them into her paintings, she feels they add character to the painting. Hard to show in pictures.
