On Monday afternoon this big cinnamon bear was seen about 1/8 of a mile from my house crossing my neighbors yard. My other neighbor took the first 2 pictures driving home. I'm only a 1/2 mile outside the city limits. I'm sure he won't be sticking around but it's very cool having a bear this close. What would you all guess that he weighs?

The bear in the first two pictures; maybe 160 pounds? Maybe less.
The third picture, different bear, different State.

Won’t be very cool when they start destroying everything in site. I think they are a beautiful creature but they have become somewhat of a pest in my area, destroying fence, crops and sometimes livestock.

I am so sorry you have bears. Imagine if you will, a 200 lb raccoon. Feral hogs are a blessing compared to bears.

I think to most serious bear hunters that would be considered a blonde not a cinnamon. Call it what you like, it's 150 pounds. Looks pretty rough but a lot of them do in the spring.
The second pic is what I would consider a light cinnamon. Color phase bears are not common in Missouri (less than 5% are a color other than black).

Just curious, are black bears unusual to find on MO?
Black bears are probably the most over-estimated for size of any big game animal.
A couple things that jump right out at you here are all that daylight under the belly, and those german shepard ears. Also, it's butt looks dang near ematiated.

Here’s a cinnamon Mom with three blonde one year olds. Watched them in the tree stand for an hour. She wouldn’t let any other bears come in. Was a few years ago.

Used to be very rare, but the state is trying to bring them back. We sort of have a hunting season on them now. St James is smack in the middle of the state.
