Happen to drive through Salisbury, NY today, small town on the edge of NY’s Mohawk Valley. Something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time, stopped at the Salisbury cemetery and found 2 of my ancestral grandparents graves. Nathaniel Foster was a revolutionary war veteran, and as the tombstone states, he served the entirety of the war. According to family history, he fought at the famous , Battle of Oriskany, one of the bloodiest engagements of the war. After the war, since he had been in the Mohawk Valley during the war, he brought his family to Salisbury and settled there.

His son, Nat Foster Jr., is the infamous Adirondack trapper who shot and killed a St. Regis Mohawk near what is now Old Forge, Ny in the Adirondack mountains in 1833. Foster Jr. had been threatened numerous times by the Mohawk trapper, and on the day of his demise attacked Foster and slashed him with a knife. Foster was tried for murder but was acquitted.

Mostly because it's become somewhat of a running joke, for people to ask and me to check and answer. Everyone else on here is likely related to everyone else too.

I do like history and genetics too.

I think it's very important for Americans to understand that it's not just history, it's their family's history. Part of them was a part of it. People who feel part of America are more likely to support it.

My first cousin on mother's side was able to get in the, Daughters of the American Revolution. So I must have had an ancestor that was in the revolution.

I use a website called Family Search.

www.familysearch.org

Family Search has 16.93 billion searchable names in historical records and 5.83 billion published digital images. Their collaborative family tree contains about 1.87 billion people. You can access trillions of records through them.

If you want to, send me the names of your closest dead ancestors, their places of birth and death, their birth and death dates and year and I'll search them for you.

I should be able to find records for both Bavaria and Calabria.
