Me and my brother are about ready to demand an upheaval. We are both planning to go back to flip phones, among other changes. His birthday is this weekend. I got him a walkman that plays cassettes and also has AM/FM radio! (Also I think it is awesome that the radio still exists) And I found him a new sealed INXS cassette.
Starting with small steps to try to get back to some semblance of normalcy and simplicity.
I’m tired of this “right now” society that we live in. It’s time to fight back.

Never went past a flip phone. Talk, text, take a picture, don't need anything else in a phone. Stays off most of the time.

Don't know that I can. I've somehow lucked into having a passel of clients that I've never met in person. They shoot me an email, I reply back to arrange a look see for a quote, they sign the quote and send it back, I keep them updated with photos and descriptions of critters caught. I invoice electronically and they pay on their end straight to my bank or if they send a check I deposit it via my bank's app with a photo of the check. All handled via this phone I'm typing on.

I don’t have to go far to get away. I was about 4 hours north of home……..nothing, not even our DMRs could find a tower. It was kinda peaceful for about 45 min driving through that isolated country, looking at the bear trying get at the problem beaver up there……lol

I still have a few 8 track tapes and even some old VCR tapes. How about the old pagers one had to carry around for work? I still think that was the start of all these crazy cell phones we now have. On rainy day I've been going through some of my old boxes of junk and even found a old bag phone. THing weights about 5 lbs.campared to the new E phones

Nothing wrong with a smart phone, IF you use it for the normal stuff you use a flip phone anyway, plus a few benefits, like getting the weather, directions to a place you haven't been before, etc....it's when you can't put it down is the problem....and...there's an off button if you need quiet time, lol. Amazing tool if your not addicted!,

I have no problem admitting that I’m on my smart phone too much. And I’m not doing ANYTHING productive. I check the same apps which are Chewy, bank app, and email. And I get on T man. And check for texts because I always have the “dinger” silenced except for my emergency contact people (family). Because the work group texts get outta hand and it would be “dinging” non stop
I’m kind of ashamed that I’m tied down to it in such a way. The only thing to do is get rid of it because apparently I can’t handle it

Looking for a good CD/ radio player for our facility. Nothing too big in size. I have been buying the Walmart types but they don't last very long. I would like for it to have a good enough volume I can hear it well on the other side of our building. Any suggestions?

I use my phone radio, just plug in ear buds and they become your antenna and your phone speaker can be amplified by the way you angle the phone speaker so it bounces off of the flat surface
Or just use a Bluetooth speaker
If you have Internet access, you can listen to anything

Ours is compact as are the speakers. We like it.

I dont have a smart phone so I need a radio / CD player.

Never have been much a radio guy unless it's talk radio and for that AM did me just fine. I miss my daily dose of Brother Rush noon to three on my daily drive.

Podcasts have replaced AM talk radio for me and for that the smart phone and bluetooth headset are my daily deal while I'm on the road.

I like the Wizard of Oz intro to Frayed Ends of Sanity. One is my favorite Metallica song. I’m also ready for that time warp.

I think 8 tracks were just a bit before my time but I remember my pap had an Oldsmobile that played them

My first stereo was an 8-track/record. I got it for my room when my mom upgraded to a record/cassette stereo for the living room.

Further proof of how weird things are; we were doing some work at my mom’s on her little potting shed. She has these neighbor kids that were outside and shouting at “Alexa” to play this or that. I’m like wow how things have changed. If a kid had to fast forward a cassette he’d prob explode

The old styles always make a comeback. About 8 years ago my niece was going nuts for “mom jeans”

I think that's awesome. It's fun to have little impractical. Things like that in your life that become games and fun creates a lot of good memories like 1984. I'd like to live nineteen eighty 32 nineteen eighty four in the loop and never get out of eighty four

So far, so good. Lately in the mornings I’ve been turning on the radio and getting some stuff done and taking walks instead. It’s nice to feel a bit more alive instead of missing out on life.

I love the radio. People nowadays seem not to though.

My brother saw a magazine article about a new music recording media that was on the way. Round plastic discs that looked like a rainbow when you tilted it in the light. A laser read the music sort of like the needle on a record.

I told.him that it would never be accepted. We already had cassette tapes and didn't need this new compact disc technology. Nobody was going to buy it.

You where close to right there's more vinyl albums at the Walmarts here that there are cds

There’s too much CHOICE now. You can look up whatever song you want at any time.
The radio is great cause you don’t know what’s gonna play and then you’re surprised and excited when a favorite comes on.

I have the same collection. I actually keep going back to the load cassette even though they cut their hair and cranked up the eye liner. Hero of the day is a great song.
