I used #3 montgonerys until the jaws started breaking and then went to #3 Montanas. No issues.
The. For three years I used #3 longsprings with big pans (all exposed) but in two years I had three cats pull out. They were laminated so likely a little slow, and two had a little snow on them but it was heartbreaking, I had all three on camera in the traps.
I bought 2 dozen canine extremes this year to use. I did take the extra springs off a couple to try and they do seem like overkill but we’ll see. I trap exposed sets and try to keep traps sheltered but can’t always. I guess I find out! A (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) of a trap regardless, just might be too strong.

Here's a couple from the 25-26 season that I caught in Duke 1-3/4. I like them for Bobcats. Not my favorite, but I have no problem at all putting a Duke 1-3/4 in the ground at a dedicated bobcat set.

Is that the K9 Extreme with an expanded pan?

Yes it is. Exposed walk through set next to a cat toilet under a cedar tree.

I use 450's and 550s. i run 50% wild river pans on the 550's and will run mostly exposed sets if its strictly for cats and blocked heavy. otherwise stock pans.
