Did screw worm get to your brain LL? I’ve seen Texas fur, I don’t consider ours an example of less fortunate. Lol I also heard that there are guys who pay for leases to find these things, that don’t sound fortunate either. Lol Eventually we will sort through this year’s piles on the floor, set aside the keepers and sell the other few hundred to someone south of the border so they can be more fortunate.

I remembered, I was just having a little fun with you Thats an amazing collection of horns I agree, it really is. I know there are better ones out there but most of them are bought and paid for, not personally found. I guess it’s a matter of perspective in that when it comes to fortunate.

You fellas down there are pretty fortunate, unless you like the outdoors, then you’re screwed. I’m not going to mention the good states cuz they wanna keep their hunting opportunities on the down low so all you other bag lickers don’t swarm the state.

With climate change going on I might have to move up north. These days at 45 latitude you throw out a couple of bad bananas and next year you have a banana plantation growing up around you.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

…. Lefty ain’t from Texas … he’s from Kansas where they inseminate potatoes in order to keep their lineage alive or something like that
.. but that being said…. I like the man
… and glad y’all Canadians found some dropped antlers or what have you It’s just one of many perks of living where we do and also loving to participate in outdoor sportsman activities. It’d be a hazard to walk the woods each year if a guy didn’t pick them up. We take care of each other like that.

Curious what makes Canadians less fortunate? Pretty fortunate today to tell the truth. Hoped on a Cessna 185 on floats. Flew to a lake in the mountains. Bucked up a 36 inch spruce that was impeding travel to the outhouse. Had lunch and flew home. 2 take offs and 2 landings makes me very fortunate. Lol If you like the outdoors & freedom to get out there, the US is not the place to live, unless your rich. There’s a reason the provinces are changing the rules for foreign hunters. It’s a shame what US $ is trying to do up here. Manitoba is the first province to take steps in the right direction for Canadian hunters. Hard to believe considering the people at the top of our Wildlife Branch…….lol

Lol I feel same about yesterday and basically every day. I was able to talk to my son about his one day of fishing with his buddies in which they caught well in excess of 100 walleye up to 28" long and in excess of 100 pike up to 44" long. Then he went and had a no shot encounter on a black bear that would make the knees weak on literally 10's of thousands guys who pay thousands of dollars to have that chance every year. His cost.....friendship. I concede that the mosquitoes are bad right now but aside from that I'm betting day to day life here isn't worse than many places on earth. Now winter.....that's a different story. lol I can read a thread on this forum right now about the woes of land leasing for hunting purposes. It does not make me feel less fortunate. lol

Apart from the induans saying I stole their land life is pretty good. Get hungry a guy can go shoot a moose, deer or elk depending on the day from my kitchen window.

We got hunter host program that allows me to take a non resident alien hunting for any OTC big game tag once every 2 years. I can take non resident hunting every year. As a landowner I can shoot as any black bear and cougar that trespasses and any wolf within 5 miles that looks like it might trespass. Haven't tested it out yet but sounds like we can deal with 2 legged trespassers accordingly if they're in our dwelling. We've got the same drug and libtarded problems as anywhere

We've got the same drug and libtarded problems as anywhere If I got a bud with good land that can’t be bought, I’m set…….. awesome elk trips I’ll tell ya!…..lol. We stopped the “sale” of private land to Americans that were basically outfitting up here. Saskatchewan is following suit. There’s been issues with “Canadian” outfitters in Saskatchewan and elsewhere that aren’t Canadian at all and burnt enough bridges for the province to look into it. The waterfowl hunting really exposed this problem. “If you don’t got $, you can’t hunt here.” It was getting hard for the average Joe to take his boy out to the neighbours pond to duck hunt, when an American gave him a blank check for the sole rights to hunt, then brings all his buds up for two months. That’s over with. Here in southeast Manitoba the blank checks didn’t work out so well. They ticked off one farmer, news travels fast and they’re all ticked. American hunting is all about privatize and commercialization…….. in a lot of states but not all. They can still do this in Alberta, but it’s far less convenient than Manitoba or Saskatchewan. I don’t wanna upset my friends in the other states by giving away their secrets……lol, but you Americans that are hard core hunters know where I’m talking about.

I'm less fortunate because I only have to travel 100 yds and I'm in some of the best hunting area that Alberta has to offer. I would like to travel abroad but can't justify it unless I got a pronghorn draw. Its boring hunting and being successful in the same spot over and over again. I have the same misfortune. I trap fisher every year 100 feet from my deck, I've killed a hammer whitetail 200 yards from my deck, I regularly chase bears from my yard, watch moose browse my dogwoods, can get a limit of walleye in five casts within 2 miles of the house, watch lynx stroll across my lawn, etc etc etc. It is the pits.

I can be at the river cabin in 15 minutes from my house in town short drive and short ride on the bike or sxs ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/06/full-21521-294980-dscf6144.jpg) ,moose on the trail and see them on the river in front of the cabin, sometimes My wife will sit on the porch doing some beading and take pics of moose swimming across the river a couple times every summer Can trap marten fisher lynx beaver otter and all furbearers right at the camp. Was out for a ride yesterday and chased a bear off the trail. Can cast off the bank in front of the cabin and catch pike and pickerel for a meal anytime. Its tough but I try to tolerate it. The downside is the bugs when they appear in mid june but by mid july when things dry up in the heat they are near non existent except for a few mosquitos in evenings after rain.A nice little smudgefire in the yard takes care of them.

Fishing isn't the best locally but it is a short jaunt to the mountains for good fish'n. I don't know how to gut and skin a animal without tractor assistance. Its unfortunate I forgot what it feels like to be bent over like a dog humping a football anymore because all hunting is done in tractor range. Can't forget the marten, fisher, squirell, beaver, muskrat and lynx on the line. Shooting beaver on the lake is great fun.
