I have this cat showing up and never get a full body pic. I lean strong towards bobcat but head size and lack of spots is making me question it. I don’t deal with many cats, so obviously other have better ID skills than I.

The black on the ears makes it look like a caracol. Not sure how it woulda ended up there

In Wisconsin, bobcats are native, common.

Cougars (mountain lions) are occasional visitors, transient, and do not have established breeding populations.

Cougars are much larger (up to 180 lbs, 6 feet long) with long tails.

Bobcats are small (20-40 lbs) with short, bobbed tails.

Randy, here are some pics of bobcats. The ears are exactly the same as yours. Bobcat bodies are short and compact, compared to cougar, who's axle base are long and more slender.The head and colouration of the facial tufts is bobcat . I've not seen such a clear coloured , non-spot bobcat, but that's what it looks like in your photo.

Of the couple hundred or so bobcats that I have seen, I have never seen one this orange and no spots or stripes. Ears are definitely like a bobcat,, but the body threw me. It’s eluded the cameras from a whole body shot.

Few years ago I encountered a mountain lion den in Colorado and the kittens had white ears. Made me think

Yes Randy, cougar ears in back are colored the same way, as are tigers too.

But the shape of cougar ears, size, and placement on the head are different. The shape of the head is different to me, too. To me, a totally different look than bobcat. IMHO.

Anyway , I hope you can sometime add your unique cat to your fur collection.

That rabbit back bobcat is all we ever see around here. Bellies are pale spotted and warshed out with gray.
