That bear looks large. Are you going to shoot it in November?

What's on the ground beside it? It is too bad you can't bait bears really, a 55 gallon drum is a great indicator of bear size. It's too bad the head is out of the frame. Ears that look miniscule are an indicator or a big bear generally.

We can't bait bears (or anything else) in Pennsylvania, we have to actually hunt them.

Eh...wot?

That's not true. I can't bait and envy those who can. I think not baiting is's a stupid law.

It's an 18 inch box to put my 220 in for skunks, coons and possums. We have a width restriction on opening size to keep hunting dogs out.

Looks big to me

Lugnut, define "hunt"
Do you have to track them?
Just sit in a tree and hope one walks by?
Curious how it is done

Down here in Texas we can bait but we can't shoot bears laugh

Some of us can still get out and find sign and figure out likely spots to sit and have deer come within range.
My preference is archery but I am not above shooting something with a gun either

I'm not putting anybody down, just stating the facts.

I have hunted them by sitting and waiting after much scouting and I have tracked them when good tracking snow was on the ground.

Bear driving is a popular method in one area I hunt.

A group of 15-25 guys and sometimes gals will push through dense, grown-over clear cuts trying to move bear to standers positioned at points ahead of and to the sides of the area being driven. Bear will hide under big brush piles and sometimes you have to jump up and down on those piles to flush them out like rabbits.

Eh...wot?

I've tried this chase method,
they run really fast, and far.
That one will hold your interest.
Good luck.
