I have trapped a lot of cricks but I always had culverts for dirt road crossings. In this case no culverts crick is about 8 feet wide and about 4 foot of water. Water is moving along pretty good but not overly fast.

How would you set this crick to be the most efficient method. I can set out of water with this out of season control license.

Locate any castor mounds that they have going and set near by....blend trap well if using 330s.
Look for bank dens and set up accordingly.
Typically in my area there will be pullouts from the water going up on dry land into feeding areas...set these up also....snare the trails.
And block off the tightest parts of the creek and possibly set the pinch points with 330s.

The beaver are coming into crick from river and crick goes dry in a couple of months. There is on dens on these banks and no ponds or widening of the crick in any part of this crick. The beaver just want to fall trees and (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) it but they don't live in it just seem to make trouble at night knocking down trees

Sounds like maybe you could make some pinch points for yourself with a stream only 8' wide. Other than that I would set wherever you see activity like pull outs.

Must be a lot of beaver there, especially if they are felling trees this time of year.
I think some scouting is in order to find where they are coming from and the routes they are using to acess the feed area from where they are actually living.
Pics may be helpful for further info

What is a crick of which you speak?
Is that some sort of Native slang?
I sometimes get a crick in my neck. which is a pain in the neck. Coincidentally I often find that the misspelling of creek to be a pain in the neck.
I am not bothered how folks pronounce words as long as they spell them right.

Please forgive my bruskness on this matter.
I recently got off the patch by going to the gum, then got off the gum by going back to Redman. if my mood doesn't improve soon, I'm going to start smoking.
it's as though I'm up a fecal rich, narrow body of moving water without a paddle...

52...Haven't you read any Pat McManus? Of course there are both "cricks" and "creeks".

Boco there coming from yellowstone river up into the crick when I have high water. They live and den in river but not going to trap them at the mouth or start of the crick from the river.

You could put a bait set in. Cut a chunk of whatever they are cutting down and pound it in the bottom or wedge it in place. Mark it up with a hatchet so it looks like another beaver has been chewing on it. Set your foothold on the down river side of your bait post.

Castor sets or pullouts, as previously stated, should be very effective also.

I'm going to try that one and a few castor sets. Thanks

Can you snare? I had just got tuned up on snaring coyotes on open ground by Big Shane when a local rancher flagged me down and said he had beaver problems.

I didn't have any beaver worthy steel with me because I drove by there on the way home but I did have a handful of nice stout snares so I set a couple and they were full the next day.

I'm no master snare guy so that means it was purdy easy.

I'd set 330 body gripper traps on the up and down stream side of each beaver dam on the crossings that's always worked well for me but then I've got a good supply of 330's to use .

You're friend along the snare line .

I’m guessing they’re not daming the drain? Might be a good place for the tray sets just under the water where they’re travelling. Are the banks real steep and the water drops to 4’ fast or slowly drops to 4’ in the middle. Floats for sure. If the banks aren’t steep, I’d do baited sets guarded with 330 & footholds. Once you scope it out a bit more, you’ll find spots that need sets.
I’d hit ‘em hard at first leaving out the castor based lures, then throw everything you got at em the next trip.

I haven't set yet but will once I see any action in the crick. Last year it was a disaster when they started moving up the crick. This year I will be ready for them and set some baited sets to start.

Set up Normal pull out locations with MB750 0r similar size trap you like.

Use a 10' chain...Anchored solid on bank side...
Make sure you add about three or four swivels. Is it enough to do with add a links

You can use just some Popple bud oil , but oil or some Birch oil. On the bank, but keep your trap below the water line and your anchor can be just about anywhere. The beaver will be sitting patiently on the bank for you. In the morning you will have to find a dispatch method that you prefer. You can pee p m me for that

I have similar scenarios here. Small creeks that get really deep when they dam them up. Hard to catch them at castor mounds when the banks are that steep.

Easiest way to catch those beaver are snares on the slides/pullout locations

Or find a place upwind that has more favorable bank conditions and make a castor mound there. They'll swim a long way to smell your castor

Gotta live up to the nickname...
