Trying to 'dig' a pocket set in unfavorable conditions can be challenging at times.
That is where a 'Portable Pocket Set' really shines, as it gives you the option to make a set, any place, anywhere and in a fraction of the time.
I have developed a bracket that allows you to set a trap for everything from mink and muskrat to beaver , (they're different sizes of course, because the traps vary.)
I can set the trap anywhere the animal is, right out 'in' the water.'
Who told you the hole has to be 'in the bank?'
Just near the edge . . .every animal you catch in a standard pocket set can swin !
But . . .if you're so inclined as to dig or auger a hole into the soil, go and get yourself an 18 inch piece of muffler tail pipe and hammer it into the bank.
Perfect size, perfect hole.
Weld it to a T-bar or T-rod and it will go much faster.
While many will say a larger hole is more appealing than a 'poke hole' , some of the best mink men of yesteryear used a SMEAR SET, where
ground fish paste was rubbed into a grassy bank, or a chunk of fish hidden behind over hanging grass along the waters edge.
No sight, no hole . . .
And they, took lots of mink !
* If you're able to catch me at the NTA in July, I'll show you my concept . . .but it won't be on display.
