I dont think its a great idea but also dont want to deny him an opportunity in life. Whats the verdict of the t man crowd.

If he wants to im going to tell him to go for it. The kid has alwayd been heck on wheels. Before his 450 dirt bike broke he was ridding wheelies pretty close to vertical for 80 to 100 yards or more in the road in front of the house.

Im guess at that age and being a 4H rodeo they will likely be putting them on steers not bulls. Likely no more dangerous than play football.

Our society has little to no milestones for turning boys into men, there's no counting coup, no killing of lions, no tattooing ceremony. You can't treat teens like kids or they're going to rebel to prove their not. Let him ride the bull, he's a couple years away from being a real man if you let him act like it and treat him accordingly

Max will be less than 1500 out of pocket. I have a 1500per preson/ 3k per family and with all my ms expences and the rest of the families expenses it wont be any more than that unless it gets into a serious longer term care situation.

If I had 1500 at 15 I woulda been rich if it were one of my three boys I would let them do it . Once they got hurt there done

…. I shut it down… not so much that he might have to fight through injury…. But because of the drug culture

… had family and friends lived that life … meth to make enough events to pay the bills … opioids to numb the pain … end up with good stories… but the addiction lives on once you can’t hang anymore … and most have nothing tangible to show for it

4H rodeo is gonna have pretty mild stock. It will be more fun than dangerous for him.

They work a lot. Cutting grass, cleaning gutters, shoveling snow, puting down mulch, moving rocks. Basically anything people need done thay can make money at.. I averaged their hourly amount over a few months and came up with about $35 an hour on jobs they bid..

My 13 year old spends my 16 year old is a saver.

Let him do it. Did u go to this event last year? How many kids got hurt? Probably more dangerous driving there in your car. I would have done it at that age if I had a chance to.

You trust him alone with a high powered rifle but you are afraid to let him sit on a cow? Turn him loose and let him learn about buckle bunnies.

My thoughts before I read this. Bulls are bulls and need to be respected. However, Ive saw this many times and the bull just wants to get back to his pen. Once the ride is over, they automatically know the way to the gate that leads back to the pen. Best of luck to him.

Lol u would think so but im assuming im past my prime. I use to be able to ride one decent but I swear lately if they sneeze im half bucked off.

I looked into it a bit more its not put on by 4h its an outside rodeo group. Sign ups closed last Friday but if there are spots they may be able to sign up maybe not depending on if there are any slots left. If he wants to he may be able. I spoke with one of the kids and his mom and they went on and on about different clinics available
how they work and how most things are about a 2 hour drive to get to.

To me its like high-school football dumb way for kids to get hurt for life. And my kid is the one that is the watch thid first to to try something one in the bunch.

I have no idea how rodeos typically work and initially was just going off what my 13 year old said whan he came to the van to ask me about it. The a little more from my wife when I was watching the stear and heifer show som friends kids were doing.

We will see if he changes his mind or if he can eve ride if he wants to tomorrow.

This is the first year they brought in a rodeo my wife said. Typically I only get a day or two off work for the fair.

Yep I was not asked or inform about it. I came home from a week of work and it was in the yard along with a 125 Honda 2 stroke my now 16 year lod bought the same week.. Turd asked grandpaw to take him to go look at it and bring it home.


I thought it would eat his lunch but the kid could handel it well. Im sure ther were some wrecks I was not told about or down played. I dont fully buy a stick hoping up from the tire hit his helmet hard enough to Crack it all the way through and loose on the piece that covers his mouth like he said happened. But it broke he could figure out how to fix it and traded it for a 300ex 4 wheeler.

The back of the chute was 10 ft. The best seats in the arena.

A student got ground off the bull, the bull started kicking, and mashing the kid.
My daughters hod holding my right leg I somehow managed to grap the kids vest with one hand and pull the kid out

I coached a few sports.
Had friends that were pro bull riders, boxers NFL ,,,,,,list goose on.


Two sports I would not let my sons do if I had boys

Downhill bike racing and bull riding
Let him ride a bronc
hopefully he gets kicked so he can have limp that hurts for a few months and wises up

Nope!!! Zero experience never had any schooling on it you would lucky to get out of the ride without something gone wrong. Bad idea!!!
