Looking for Blackstone style gas griddle.
My requirement is that its 25 lb tank hookup.
2 -3 burners is good.
30 - 36 inch griddle is perfect for me.
Don't have to own a Cadillac but I recognize quality and buy that way.

Anyone have pros or cons and brand names is appreciated.
Thx.

I actually just bought one for a camping trip. I looked at a Blackstone and lifted a Pit Boss and it was far lighter and that was important for my application. I bought a hose to adapt from 1 pound cylinders to a 20 pound tank. I only used it a week and it was GREAT. I can lift the top off and store the house, grease pan, spatulas, tongs, etc inside the stove body and then put the griddle back on.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Ok thx
I'll look into them
It will be a daily user as the heat drives me outside to cook anything hot.

I have a Blackstone 36" but if I had to do it over again, I would go with Blue Rhino. My son has the Blue Rhino and the lid system is far superior to the Blackstone. The lids fold out and serve as a table on each end and fold back over the cooking surface when not in use. They stay attached all the time and you do not have to wait for the griddle to cool to cover it.

I started off with a smaller Pit Boss. Really liked it but was lacking griddle space if I wanted to do a "big cook". Bought a Razor 3 burner, I think 25" or maybe a little bigger off Amazon and that has become our favorite "at home" griddle. It has 3 burner knobs but the far left burner is actually "U-shaped" so it is pretty much like a 4-burner. Heat is very controllable and we have cooked on it nearly nightly for about 3 years with no problems. We really like it.

We kept the Pit Boss for camping ,etc..

I have a Member's Mark flat top. It is a 4-burner model that came with no lid 4-5 years ago for $200. It works great, lots of cooking area and I wouldn't want anything smaller. I see the new one like mine comes with a lid for $250 now. Well worth it, I believe. They have a 5 burner model for $500 that I would consider if I had more friends. Reviews on both models are pretty good.

Thanks I looked up the blue rino to see what you were taking about. I like the front greas trap and side table/ lid. Had you not posted i likely would have bought a Blackstone since thats what I have seen most and what a friend has taht works well for them.

One of these days im going to build my wife a covered outdoor cooking area.

I have a Camp chef, with lid, you can get it with a full griddle....powerful burners and the price was less than a Blackstone....but a friend has a blackstone and loves it.

Lots of good info.
Looking at the variations.
Is the cooking surface basically the same quality ?
Or are some better than others for cleaning and durability ?
Some good selling points so far.
Thx again for all the replies .

I don't have one but I like some ability to hold the heat in , just curios do most of you just take the lids off while cooking or do you lower the lid to hold heat in while cooking like you do with a grill?

I have a griddle on my grill so far it has been working well enough I didn't feel the need to buy a second appliance.

Everyone I know that has a Black stone style outdoor unit spends as much time cleaning as they do cooking. Seems like they are always fighting rust etc before and after they cook. I’d recommend a side burner on a regular grill and a large cast iron skillet.

Those are the pros/cons the internet lists.

When I got mine, I went through all that stuff. Most is like a luremaker saying there's is the best or most popular. Lots of buzz words and BS. Cold rolled vs hot rolled, Sear zones and heat plates. grin

Bottom line, thicker steel is better, but also heavier. They all require maintenance/cleaning. It's like cooking with cast iron.

I will say, watch the BTU rankings when comparing. Some of the cheaper models do have less.

We have a Pit Boss and it was a close out deal at walmart. It works great but the only thing is the cooking surface is teflon coated. So you can't use any metal tools on it which is a pain. On the plus side my wife bought a wooden scraper thing on line and clean up is super quick and easy.

Sliced potatoes with leeks, eggs, bacon and sausage patties. Maybe some pancakes. Mmmm Mmmmm
