Are they worth having? I can only have a few.

They are awesome. Very easy to care for and entertaining too. Get yourself a couple of Guinneas too. They are great watchdogs. Back when I had birds, I would open the coop door in the mornings to let them run around for the day. By evening they would all be waiting back inside the coop waiting to get fed.

I have nothing clever to put here.

What do you mean worth? Economically maybe,

They are easy to take care of, provide high quality eggs and I enjoy looking out and seeing my colorful flock of mixed variety of birds out in the yard.

There can be down sides like predators, and poo on the porch, and they may got out in the garden and cause issues now and then. ( like that red ripe tomato you have been watching your planing on picking today only to find a chicken decided to try it first.)

But in all I do like having the birds. Im not sure how many we are down to maybe 30 or less. May be time to put some eggs in the incubator.

Why a few ? Does your local run Nazi run government...tell you what you can...

And cannot have ??

I use mine for pest control eggs and table fare on the young roosters that hatch. Kind of a pain this time of year when they go to roost late.

Yes and no....treat them like pets with benefits and they're good, if you think it's going to save you money on eggs, it won't. I liked having them, I like not having them too......

I assume you live in a city or suburb with a chicken ordinance - a handful of hens and no roosters?

Used to be here, 6 hens, or ducks, or a mix of fowl, but no more than 6..think they bumped it to 10 during covid...NO roosters.

Not that anyone pays attention to that...unless a complaint is made....pays to give the neighbors some eggs occasionally, lol
