Yesterday for the fourth's enjoyment, that is. And continued today .
I was too busy to post this, wrapped up with cooking and enjoying flyovers of jets and choppers in DC , the line of tall ships decked out in their splendor, all day . Thanks to my President , it was magnificent , all day. Veterans over 100 years old were there, and original flags displayed from various events in time. To a man, the vets couldn't say enough good things about the President and the people who love doing good things for them. Wishing the vets all good things for them that they earned. And the veterans appreciating the people's kindness in return.
I really liked the military bands . They are always perfect . The opera singing and the other great singers . And of course, the jets and choppers, even some WW2 Mustangs . My father would have loved it . Lines of military sitting in the first seat sections. Impeccably dressed.
All the while, preparing the meals.
My dinnah is no other than Knothead, my rabbit who bullied the others. I wanted to try some new, exotic spices , from the Mediterranean and Türkiye, centuries old spices that I've never tried. They worked great, seasoning to perfection. Same for my fresh green bean sauce. The meat seared a rich flavorful brown and retained its moist , tender texture.
I guess all Knothead's running, fighting and being semi wild didn't make the meat one bit tough .
It was a fun day seeing all the good things my President arranged and his good speech later. Proud of my country . My White House. My President , and foremost, all the great men who served in support of making America great . Especially my father , decorated fighter pilot and gunner of WW2. A good positive , happy day .
Hope the Tman Tribe had and still is having an appreciative Independence Day weekend . May that always be so.
Great stuff, Sharon. Looks like a fantastic meal to go with some great thoughts about a great holiday! Glad to see you making good use of a problem bun!

Nessy ,plenty of room to pahk the cah ! Someday show me your work on a 40s mob cah hotrod ….a deep indigo layered metallic clear coat that looks black but surprises you with highlights as it moves ….deep black/blue indigo is among the most magnificent colours existing.
Thank you for this post and thank you to our President, who waited and patiently to deliver accolaides to all those heroes of such that have contributed to the greatness this country. And thank you to your father and all those serviceman that have held a bulwark against adversity to our values. I so wish my father could have witnessed this event, he would have been so proud of our leaderships recognitiion of the contributions our military have made . Army air corps, the mighty eighth played such a pivotal role,....thanks Dad!
I have posted this once before,..I find it so insperational,..medal of honor recipient Samuel Davis: Vietnam
I listened to it all .S. Davis had an interesting 18 month speaking tour to university students and others. As he said, it made him patient and understanding that there were a number of those who actually did understand the difference between protesting war and still supporting soldiers serving. the account of his " mean old Sergeant, a bitter old man " ( all of 27 years old), who made them clean each bullet, every night before dark ...later they realized that kept the M16 from jamming. He never explained to the men why he had them do that. The "glades" and islands therein, as he described, sounded much like the glades I grew up exploring. No one knows what that's like unless they've been in them. The way he views his medal is very humble too. All for his men.
Mnsota, my father and I waved the welcome banner for the VN soldiers returning, and years after that, Dad served as friend and a perfect stabilizing influence on the many vets we had as family friends down through the years. They would be in a dark place and after time would feel better in spending time with my father. He would take them up in his planes, airboats, and visit late into the nights with them.
I've had the honor of being amidst veterans right up to now, presently with the group I volunteer for every week. Vietnam vets as well. I've appreciated and learned much . The countenance, discernment , patience, and loving care I have today has been largely a result of their presence .
As you noted, I've never seen a President such as ours now who has given so much deserved time to honoring our veterans and military, and taking such concerned good care of our active servicemen. Pete is the perfect man for the job. Joey Jones will soon be helping him too.
Salute to your father too. How good it is to be born into such brave men as fathers . As my father always said, "especially the ones who know what It's like to be shot at ." The stories of tactical precision he shared with me of how he learned to fly his planes under intense fire. He went through three of them. He used those moves all his life afterward in his stunt pilot talents at air shows.
Our Dads would have loved the air show all day from those jets, B2's , WW2 planes and choppers . Pilots nevah retire !
