Fairly cold snap in the winter took out most of the peach crop but we aren't a big peach/nectarine/plum area anyway. Same stretch of weather got the black locust too.

Spring cold snap was pretty rough also. At the time, most thought we were losing the majority of the fruit crop across the state but lots of growing regions and weather variables. The vast majority of the strawberry crop was lost ---particularly the early varieties. There's very little cherry crop. Think the forecast has been around 40 million pounds versus typical 200-250 million. There is a huge apple crop in most areas which might be an issue given its fourth year in a row of big crops and the co-ops have been stretched to move the entire crop last couple years. I noticed yesterday that the crews were hand thinning the trees pretty hard. Been a very wet year to date. About the best raspberry crop I can remember so far and the blueberry crop looks like it could be substantial also but some varieties didnt get great pollination due to weather.

Talked with two orchard owners ove the last couple weeks, one with 600 trees and one with over 10,000 both stated they have a very good crop growing and are hoping for more rain as we are very dry right in our section of eastern WI.

15 degrees""""""""" as the cherries, plumbs and apricots were filling out
Apples were in full bloom, the leafed out raspberries and blackberries froze to the ground on most plants.lost nearly 1/2 of the plants I did see a few Russian Mulberries,,
Even froze the leaves off of the cottonwood trees

There goes my bear bait
