I live in the middle of all this. South central Oregon six miles from the Cali boarder. We have not had an issue yet on the ranch i'm on but we get calls letting us know wolves are in the area. The ranches just over the boarder are having huge problems with no help because it's Calif. I thought things went bad here when they stopped hound hunting of bear and cougar but the wolf has brought a whole new meaning to predation. As bad as it is i'm glad to see other natural resource groups being affected instead of just the trapping community. The so called environmental movement is not about protecting anything it's solely a big business to make money off of successful law suites.

Hope burns eternal in the heart of a trapper.

There's nothing colder than a fur buyers heart!

Government plan to run the ranchers off the land.
Funny how what goes around comes around.Back in the day the govt sanctioned the killing off the buffalo and most of the indians then the ranchers moved in.
Bottom line-dont trust the govt.

I’m right in the middle of this as well, being 5 miles South of the Oregon/California border. One of the lady’s on the trailer for episode two is my Aunt. The elk winter around my house, and to the northwest of my house, about 300 or 400 feet below my house elevation. The wolves stay to the Southeast of my house, they will never drop down to the elk in the winter… It’s way easier to hunt the beef, since the beef are usually closer to the timber than the elk.

The compensation program is a joke, and simply does not work! (But everybody somehow believes a lie that ranchers are getting compensated handsomely!!!)

And lastly, the hidden cost burden by the rancher is way more than the actual death of the animals. The amount of open cows, and lost pounds on the calves is what will eventually put them out of business.
