been gardening 40 plus yrs on my own and dont think i have ever seen these eggs/bugs. any suggestions ?

At first I thought they were parasitic wasp cocoons on a caterpillar, but I don’t see a caterpillar.

They could be stinkbug eggs.

I don’t know but I’d spray the heck out of them with sevin. Never seen anything like that either.

Nope but doing a search it looks kind of like wasp eggs that are on a tomato hornworm but I don't see the hornworm.

I checked this out with Google Lens, here's what it said:

These growths on the stem are likely adventitious roots, also known as air roots, which are normal for tomato plants.

Normal Growth: They are not a disease or pest, but rather a completely normal response by the plant to produce extra roots for water and nutrient uptake.

broke a piece off for a closeup.

Thanks K-zoo, you hit it on the head.

looked at the 35 other plants of different varieties that i have an this is the only one showing these large clusters of bumps.

Again thanks for the responses an knowledge

The reason the rootlets formed is that branch was damaged. Damaged branches typically droop to the ground and throwing roots keeps the branch going and productive of fruit, if they make it into the ground. You can see the damage in the photos.
