From bystanders he didn't do anything wrong. People get away with a lot more then what he did from a distant. He was a victim in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sounds like a grandfather and grandson in park enjoying nature. A sad deal.

On foot and that close to a wild animal is a strong possibility of a bad outcome.

I will say that the guy did far less to end up a victim than some of the ones I have seen do stuff and have nothing happen.

That's excadtly what I was thinking, instead of hanging around gawping at the buffalo beating up a tree there was his chance to get out of there, the grandson seems to have figured that out, don't see him sticking around

Something about that guy PO'd the buffalo. The bull didn't go after the white truck, which I half expected, but tracked grandpa thru the trees. Gramps was lucky there was no follow-up after the toss. He could easily have been trampled to death.

For whatever reason that only the bull Buffalo knows it was grandpa's turn in the barrel to get educated .

Some long time friends of mine raise buffalo and I've helped them working around them and as leftlane mentioned watch and learn body language to keep yourself safe .
They had a bull buffalo that they raised and could feed by hand , that contracted something from a goat it shared a corral with when the owner walked into the pen and turned his back on them the bull head butted him and sent him flying !

What saved George was he landed close to the wood plank fence and he rolled under it to get away . Shortly afterwards the veterinarian came out and checked the buffalo out while George was in the hospital , the buffalo was put down , and George recovered to feed his buffalo another day .

Anyone who has worked or fed buffalo / bison can tell you they can move rather quickly for their size and they can run for miles when they get that in there minds .
I've enjoyed watching , feeding and yes even hunting buffalo they are something to behold and to respect which people don't until its to late sadly for some .

I had JUST gotten home and laid down to relax... then boom...all I hear is pictures being taken. I look up, and there's a camera all in my face. He should've just kept it movin'....

Soon as that bison rolled over and dusted himself off, he knew what he was going to do.

I read that bison had chased off some people/ kids earlier that day, was already agitated.

The guy who got tossed, released a statement accepting the situation and not blaming the bison.
