I worked several years running 100 ton presses to make powered metal parts that ran straight into the furnace. It was 115-125 degrees year round in the work area. Gold bond powder was your friend.

It is difficult to find guards to watch over these prisoners. The guards have to be in the heat too. To say nothing of feces and urine thrown at them as they walk by the cells.

Absolutely a life saver when I was working in the smelter. 7 years in construction before that and I thought I knew what hot was. I learned very quickly I had no idea what hot was untill I worked in the pot room. You cant comprehend it unless you experience it. Its a completely different kind of hot.

Yep, thats the main problem. People used to use corrections as a step into law enforcement. Now, no one wants to be a cop so stepping stones arent necessary. You have to want to be a corrections officer. And in 110 heat index with the smell of all those dudes and crap pay, good luck with the quality of employees youre gonna get.

Honestly, after hearing the prisoners gripe I would turn the heat on, and serve hot spicy chili for supper.

After 30 years in corrections all I'll say is the more miserable living conditions are the more unsafe it is for staff. Staff run the prisons but when Inmates riot for any reason it gets bad quick. I've worked in a prison that was built in the early 1800s and new facilities. The old ones sick for everyone. Freeze in the winter and shelter in the summer. I hope they find a reasonable solution. Im retired now. 😆

so they have nothing to do all day

they get to sit in the shade

they have a wash cloth and a little sink and a box fan

until it is well over 100 sounds to me like they won't be in any serios health concern

a lot of people work in this heat , most shops when the temps outside get over 90 they provide the crew Gatorade.

but to avoid heat related illness serve pickles at each meal and collect the pickle juice and everyone gets a cup of pickle juice to drink oh and 2 extra salt packets.

remember keep drinking water , it gets bad if you stop sweating.

I saw a couple homeless Friday night , it was about 7pm temp in the truck read 81they already had their winter coats on , when you get acclimated to 90s during the day , at 7pm when it is 81 you might want your jacket or you freeze when it is 65 on the overnight.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Should have thought of that before doing the crime.

Three hots and a cot. Should be forced to wear pink clothing and live in tents as they do in Mariicopa county AZ.

I wish there was a simple and easy way to avoid being confined in those conditions. Gosh. If only there was a way…

My attic fan keeps me alive in the summer, If it get's to be too much, I go to the library and read T-Man. LOL
