Modern, tourist piece. The bead colors are very modern. Loosely based off a split horn bonnet, a style commonly attributed to medicine men and other figures of importance. Old ones typically had the crown covered with strips of ermine, and lots of ermine tails.

Here's a late 1890s Blackfeet example.

They could very well be "real" horn, but not bison. They don't look quite right for bison, possibly cattle or water buffalo.

On this subject, does anyone have any info on this pouch? I think the outside is loon feathers. Made in NW Ontario a looong time ago. Ojibwe I believe.

Ok. Horns are fake. But it is an old piece as far as souvenir. More than likely from the 1960’s. Several knives came with it.

There was so much bead work hanging on it the full coyote hide is torn at the head piece. Leather is very bad. More then likely in a very hot area exposed to sunlight

There was a thank you note with the purchase price $650.00. In the inside of the head piece.

So here it is with me wearing it.

Overall it will make a good conversation piece. Thanks again for everyone help[Linked Image]

Wayne, at $25.00, plus buyer's fee, you should do well on it, if you sell it.

If you call the number on the tag, you may be able to find out more about it.
