Who has one and the pro's and con's. My compressor just went out on my 6 year unit. $2,000 - $2500 to replace. Parts under warranty, labor isnt.
I was thinking about getting a split system for a backup on extremely hot days( in S.C.) there are plenty of hot days over 100 heat index. Or when my hvac system takes a complete dump next time.
I like the idea of controlling temps in different rooms for different requirements.

What are your experiences with it?

I have 4 Garvee units in my house. Cut our electric bill in half, and I bought them for 1/4 the cost of a traditional hvac system.

One of the big advantages of the mini spits is they don't go full force trying to heat or cool a room/house. Regular HVAC goes full blast which is why they're not the electricity hogs.
