Anyone use them any issues on the riding or zero turns

Had a zero turn, couldn’t keep the belt on and the hydraulic pumps were horrible. Traded it in on a Kubota lawn tractor. Would not recommend the cub cadet. Eric

Old Cubs were bulletproof. Newer ones not so much, had to cheapen them up to remain competitive.

Any recommendations for 1+ acres with a slope also may try to do some commercial work

We have a 60" cut Hustler brand. I would have to check the model, probably more of a commercial grade. We mow probably 15 hours a week with it. 2 years old and have not had any real issues with it.

If Hydro Gear, no less than 3100 trany. Stay away from the fancy suspension models. Suspension seat is good enough. Do homework on engines. You will understand what I’m talking about after you do.

Scag would be my recommendation. We currently have 4 that get run hard every day. Anything from normal mowing to cutting stuff that is chest high. Yes, it's hard on the mower in tall stuff but just leave the deck raised up the first pass and go slow. It'll cut it. Most often replaced parts will be blades, blade spindles, and yokes for the front wheels. Having to jump street curbs is rough on the yokes. Stay away from Cub Cadet unless you enjoy working on it every day. Drive motors are a common problem on them and they aren't cheap. The last one we had was given away for spare parts. Exmark isn't much better than Cub. We still have one but it leaks from the drive motors, is underpowered for it's size, and something about the weight balance to wheelbase and track width just isn't right. Squirrely on slopes and uneven ground is the best way to describe it. Steep slopes can be a problem with any of them. You can't steer upslope with the front tires. The longer the wheelbase and the wider the track the better. I have seen locking front wheels offered on them now and can see a huge advantage in having that option. Foot pedal operated lock that prevents the front wheels from swiveling at will.

Hills, you will learn quickly. Never turn with front down hill. The drive wheel tires up hill will not hold you back. Away you go, down the hill. Zero steers love water for some reason. If you put fluid in the drive wheels gives you more traction, but it will shorten the lift of the transmissions. Creating more friction, more heat. If you go full blown commercial, ($12000.00 +) you’re looking at 2 Eaton wheel motors, and possibly two Hydro gear Pumps, most have one pump. I like the idea of right side completely separate from left side with two large separate oil tanks. That way if one side dumps, it won’t cross contaminate the opposite side.
