At a friends house today and he buys a lot of stuff from auctions and never parts with anything. Lol Any way today i tried again to negotiate a deal for an item. I caught him on a weak day. Lol He has so many great item from antiques and unique item it is unreal. Anyway I traded him a small hand held leaf blower I picked up a few days ago for 3$. He wanted it so he traded me this Old Hickory Skinner. I will pack it with me this fall on big game hunts.

Trades like that are almost stealing...... I could only wish to be as good at it as you. That is a super tool. Honor it with use!

That style of blade and handle they call a beef siding knife and yes they're a good knife , personally I prefer using a sheep siding knife it has a straighter blade .
Chances are you'll never wear it out with the high carbon steel it's made from .

So yes that was a good trade .

You're friend along the snare line .

Had this one awhile. Doesn't need sharpening very often. Edge comes right back with a butchers steel.

Came across one of those years ago. Had a Amish guy make a thick leather sheath for it. Not to carry it but to protect the blade from any nicks. I know you will enjoy using it.
