I loaned my setters to a friend and he can't figure out how to use them after he left my house. I gave him a quick demonstration, but like most new trappers he was afraid of the trap and forgot what I showed him by the time he got home. I remember seeing a Youtube video on this setter and liked it back when I bought it.

I can't remember who made it and sold it to look it up, I was going to buy him one and also send him a link to a how to video.

The handle was welded rebar in the shape of a T, wrapped with orange tape and it had 2 rods extending from the handle bent in a U shape on the end. You set the DP in it and squeeze it and it was very safe and easy to set the trap.

Can't help with that particular setter, but until help arrives, a long handled screwdriver can be used as a setter. You just need some longer leverage help.

That is a pretty slick setter I need to pick one of those up for the wife. Anyone know where to pick one up at?

Small oil filter pliers work so much better

Was going to buy a setter, they're cheap, but that's all I needed and the postage was higher than the cost, lol, tried the oil filter plier, and it was ok, but just use a long screwdriver now ...works fine...

Bend a 1:4 inch rod in a u shape narrow enough to fit under trigger rod and on springs and file the notches in to fit the trigger rod

I ordered a 6 pack of these Z-Traps DP's and each trap came with a white cap and setter. Six of each........

Duke setters are a couple bucks and also work well.

On the OP's Ceder Creek DP setter, it appears those didn't get off the ground. There was a post on a faceplant page from about 5 years ago.......said the setters had been farmed out to Dakota Line Snares, but nothing on their website now. If you have one, you may be living in rare air.

A straight screw driver works as well as that. I use a 10 in piece of 1/4 rebar. He talks about shooting your eye out!!! LOL

Seriously just stick a straight screw driver through the top of the spring into the opening of the trap. Move it to straight up parallel with the trap Set the dog done.

At one time i had 40-50 set i checked each day. I figured out what to use real fast because of arthritis. Everybody owns a straight screwdriver.........

That's what I use, and it comes in handy now and then elsewhere on the line.

A piece of heavy wire 20" long bent in a U with a groove cut to engage with the trap spring pivot works fine. Problem I have with them is leaving them at the trap site when I need it at the next site. I have a setter like pictured but never use it because I make my own DPs.
