Just read in the newspaper that South Dakota approved rifles for turkey hunting. Seriously. The dumbest bird alive.

I think turkey intelligence matches the intelligence of those hunting it. Turkeys in most of the south are very difficult to kill

Iam not sure if you've ever hunted turkeys but if not go buy a license and pursue them in the spring when they have hens with them you may have a different outlook how dumb they are.

I shot one with a bow. Not a challenge at all.

Always wanted to shoot one with my 221 fireball. Never ever been a legal hunting method in this state. Very smart move. In open country I could see how it be a blast. One shot one kill. As most of you know the only thing Turkey has going for it is its eye sight. Unbelievable

Some Western sates allow rifle for the fall season.

I'd love to have a crack at one with my .36 flintlock. That would be fun.

12 gauge with heavy shot and good turkey choke for good range. .223 is a little hard on them.

Rifles aren't legal for turkey in CT. But since the statute of limitations has probably run out, 40 years ago I shot one with a Ruger 10/22. Worked fine.

When I movd here several years ago you could rifle them. Ridiculous. I haven't even switched to tungsten because if I cant get to 45 yards, then I stink. So we are just circling back.

We've always been able to use a rifle.
223 over a 12 guage, best of both worlds.
Had 1 for over 30 years and its accounted for several.
Kids growed up using it too.

Just another tool for hunters to help them get a turkey . I am ok with it we can use here in Va.

When I lived in SD in early 90’s rifles where legal, so I don’t know in the lost it and got it back or what. I remember the 222 being popular for turkeys.
In my experience turkeys seem dumb until I grab a shotgun.

As stated above, Virginia allows rifles, and so does(did?) Florida when I hunted there.....one of the spookiest turkey populations in the entire world.
