We have fledgling birds everywhere. The hummers are attacking the feeders, using about a gallon of syrup a day. The young ravens stripped our cherry trees and drove us crazy with their squawking. Robins are on their second hatch, every turkey hen in the county has a passel of young following her around and some of them are their second hatch. I saw a momma ruffed grouse today with about a dozen young that were about half the size of my fist. We had a warm, dry spring and I think every egg hatched. I like seeing them all but the ravens and turkeys, wish I could send them somewhere else.

Seems like it was a good nesting season here, too. Been seeing a lot of half grown pheasants. Always good to see.

We done well this year even with weather. Miss China birds I use to manage for down south of me…hummers finally expanded with little ones. Turkeys send my way. Keep the ravens. As of now I got the most cottontails I had here in years had a few migrants come through I never had before.

We have some songbird baby's and a fair number of woodpeckers flying around. The two I really care about are the Wrens and the Bluebirds. They both seemed to have a good first hatch.

Seeing young pheasants in Iowa is GREAT! A good pheasant hatch is a strong sign that carries over into all ground nesting birds numbers. Provide them good habitat and they will come.

Very true in a lot of areas - we can't control the weather but we can provide suitable habitat to make the best for brooding.

Saw several hen pheasants with chicks in the past week. Some with as many 10 chicks.

Tall people sleep long in bed.
