Was at Menards over the weekend to get some 3/8 rebar for stakes.. I was cutting the 20 foot sections so they could fit in the truck and the blasted bolt cutters cracked clear across on the cutting portion.

I think I had that set for at least 25 years.
Went in and got another one for 22 bucks so I could cut them into 20 inch lengths at home.
I’ve never had that happen before,,, cut ALOT of rebar with it.
You guys ever experience that??

Buy a new set of jaws and repair for a back up set.

rebar is pretty tough cutting

I always use an abrasive wheel chop saw, so's I can cut it at an angle to save a couple of steps.

busted plenty over the years. Most hold up well and depends on what you use them on and that you have the right size. I've had a few guys that always grabbed the smallest ones out of the trailer to do the biggest job

To get the 20' sticks home, I use an abrasive wheel on a battery grinder.
Rebar chews up those wheels pretty quick.

Portable bandsaw is the berries on rebar.

I've cut hundreds of feet of 3/8 bouy chain, black and galv. with a 3 foot bolt cutter, it was a tough job when I still had shoulders, lol. I think I broke the cutters once.

Yep, more than once.

Not all rebar is created equal. Some is as hard as rocks.

The cheap one break, get a good one and you wont break them.

Yes, cheap Harbor Freight right at the knuckle cutting 3/8" rebar.

If you paid $22 for a set to cut rebar you better have a plan cause they will be broke soon enough as well

I thought breaking stuff is normal. I think I've broken about every tool I've ever used with any frequency.
