Last two blood tests showed high potassium, 5.6, doctor kinda freaked a little, need to redo it soon....been cutting out stuff with high amounts of P and drinking more water, all my kidney parameters are in normal range.
Anyone ever go through this?

Worst thing is "they" claim to limit coffee to 8 oz per day......I drink a lot of coffee, 8 oz ain't enough to kick start a squirrel, lol
Maybe should switch back to beer, .... grin

Hmmmm, just checked, too much potassium in beer,,....Whiskey it is!... grin

When I was flown to the hospital 9 years ago my pottasium was 92. Couldn't get up from the floor, Doctors told my wife folks usuallay start dieing at 60 or so. Now with dialysis it's aroung 4-5 unless I eat a lot of high pottasium foods like tomatoes, potatoes, stuff like that. Just cut back on that type of stuff and it gets back in range. Potassium is a pain in the butt , too high messes you up and too low messes you up, mine has been as low as 2.4 and they freaked out too, Just watch your intake on it, read labels and look it up as far as veggies

I started using a salt substitute years ago, potassium chloride. My doctor told me during my last visit that it is as bad as salt and not to use it. I'm not allowed caffeine either. Getting old sucks.

I don't buy the salt thing. Refined salt isn't that great, but Celtic salt and sea salt is what I eat.

MTtraps did you mean 9.2 and 6.0. Normal potassium is 3.5 - 5 with 6.5 being critical. I’ve never even seen a 10.
Not saying you’re wrong. Just curious

My wife has battled high potassium for years. Look at any other meds you are taking. Some have a potassium base. Three of her everyday meds were potassium based Told her to drink more water then she almost died because her sodium got too low. They changed her meds to a sodium base. It lowered it about 2.0 on average.
